I have been birding at Gajoldoba for more than five years since now. But one of my greatest desires was to shoot this beautiful drake. Unfortunately either the drakes didn't come in the past winters, of even if they came, I just had a glimpse and of they went without giving the slightest opportunity to photograph. To me there isn't anything called Record shot. Spent an entire day with these beautiul drakes and ducks. This year they came in large numbers and unlike previous winters, they  are allowing pretty decent approach.

Shot with Nikon D500 + Nikkon 300 mm f/2.8 ( VR-I ) + 1.4X TC

EXIF Details : 1 / 5000s

f / 5.6

ISO : 400

Good takeoff pose. Good point of view.
Just wish the splashes from the other bird were not there.

A good-looking male and a wonderful takeoff shot, Biru. The wing position and positions of the feet could not be better. The splashing water in front of the Merganser is a little distracting, but overall I feel this is an excellent image. Nicely done.

Yes. Right you are. These ducks live in groups and he was in the middle among the females. Thats why the water splashes are there.
