Its a beautiful bird and a beautiful background. The light is coming from a little bit too far to the left, leaving the birds face in shadow and losing the eye. I do just barely see it so a little bit of work on the image might recover enough detail to better separate the eye from the black cap.

Good to see you here ...

As commented by EJ! And despite the difficult light, you had done well with this one, Daniel! Beautiful clean BG to boot. :D

This is were fill-in-flash shines, It would bring out a little more detail from the shadows and as a bonus give you a catch-lite as well, Still very nice and very good detail!! Congrats!!! 8)

Hi Daniel and welcome! I think the other photographers have brought out some good and useful points. Beyond that, I like the simplicity of the composition very much.

Welcome :)

I think the suggestions already provided would make the detail pop, but I also think you caught the simple elegance of terns very well with this one.

Daniel,

This is a sweet image! I agree a little fill flash and a tiny bit more room on the bottom. Love the background! Very nice!

WElcome. Lovely pose on the tern. A little fill and the eye and the image would really pop.

If you took the image in RAW mode, there should be plenty of detail in the shadows that you could bring out. It could even be done with a jpeg although it's a little harder. A lot of good suggestions above that I won't repeat. Still a nice first image. :D
