Shot yesterday while taking pictures of eagles deep in to the small creek.
These dippers are fun to watch. They pop up and down submerging the heads while searching for food. Sometimes they dive under the water and use their wings to propel them self. They prefer cold. fast moving rivers and streams. They flash their white upper eyelids it is believed use for communicating when near noise part of the river or rapids.
It is hard to believe they can survive in these frigid  waters.

I love dippers! This is a stunningly beautiful portrait of this wonderful, busy bird, Ludo. Exquisite detail from top to tail and beautiful plumage colour.

Superb!!

I agree with Carol. This is a fantastic image of this Ouzel. I have never seen one perch or stand still for a portrait. On the Red River in northern NM, I have watched them go in and out of the partly frozen water with no hesitation. They are a lot of fun to observe.

Ludo, the dark background sets off the Dipper beautifully, and the light and detail are excellent. Well done.

This is a great shot Ludo. You have captured extreme detail in the plumage and the dark background really makes it pop.

This bird just glows, Ludo- an exceptional capture in every way-love the mossy stump, and it's amazing how you got this bird to stand out against a dark background. Really exceptional!
