Shot yesterday while taking pictures of eagles deep in to the small creek.
These dippers are fun to watch. They pop up and down submerging the heads while searching for food. Sometimes they dive under the water and use their wings to propel them self. They prefer cold. fast moving rivers and streams. They flash their white upper eyelids it is believed use for communicating when near noise part of the river or rapids. It is hard to believe they can survive in these frigid waters. D4, 200-500mm f/5.6 1/160, ISO-1400, f/8, handheld, VR-ON @500mm Please click on the image for uncompressed view, thank you. |
