My 500 5.6 lens arrived yesterday afternoon! Just got a few shots in before dark. Pretty excited!
D500, 500/5.6, 1/1600,f5.6,ISO 800
This is a 50% crop. Hand held. I haven't calibrated this lens yet, and it's going to take a while to get used to hand-holding. I overexposed a bit , so used shadow-highlight in Photoshop. Focus point was a little low. Comments welcome!
As always, a click reveals better sharpness.

Great pre-Christmas gift, Cindy. I hope mine will arrive before Christmas but nobody seems to know.
Nice first image with the new toy.

Great eye contact on this jumpy species. Glad you like the lens. Image a wee bit busy with all the sticks.

Thanks Alan. Kinda of a grab shot...but I rather like the sticks! ;) That's where I always see these busybodies.

Congratulations on the new lens, Cindy. A beautiful image, and I like the way the branches frame the Chickadee. Nice detail and sharpness too. Looking forward to seeing many more images from your new lens.

Thanks Peter- errr- not sure what you mean, Peter- did you mean to say "less" cropping?

Nicely framed by the crossed sticks and their golden colour complements this little featherball beautifully!
