This is a shot that I recently was working on realized I hadn’t posted before, it’s almost full frame with just a small crop from the right. It was taken on the Lima, Peru waterfront. This species is quite similar to our Black Oystercatcher but it has a brown back rather than being all black.
Canon 7D2 300F4 1.4x 1/80 F6.3, iso 800, a slow shutter speed due to fading light.

Nate, needs to be clicked on to fully appreciate the beautiful details and colors.  Love the head angle, direct eye contact, neutral BG and the bonus treat in beak.  A very engaging, wonderful photo!

I love oystercatchers and their wonderful piercing call as they swoop low over the ground like jet planes. This is a stunning portrait, Nate - such superb detail thoughout, beautiful eye, and a juicy snack in the bill. A beauty!

Nate, great behavioral frame with the meal in bill. Excellent color, and interesting story about the differences in species.
