This is a male Burrowing Owl that I caught just at the moment of touch-down. Hope you like it, it's one of my favorite Burrowing owl images!

Thanks as always for looking and for your input.  I appreciate it.

Beautiful framing with the diagonal line of the wings and the arched perch, David. Wonderful eye contact and lovely lighting. Congrats.

Thanks Peter,

No, this wasn't a setup and it was a naturally caught frame.
I got real fortunate as a buddy and I were sitting in my truck watching this guy and his baby playing around and hunting. He was sitting on the ground doing nothing so I decided to set up on the perch that was close to him. I bumped my focus on the perch and kept looking at the owl on the ground. As soon as he looked at the perch with intent, I started blazing away at 12fps with the D5. I actually got 4 nice frames but this was the best as he looked up at me just as he landed :)
I was pretty exited when I looked at the cameras LCD after the burst!!
Thanks again

You did well to line up your shadow line almost directly with the stick. Excellent result.

David, great-looking touchdown action shot with the full spread wings, fanned tail, lovely details and BG.  The arch of the perch is neat, adding to the dynamics of the image.  The expression on face along with the direct look your way is priceless!

No wonder this is a favourite, David! These little owls are so photogenic and such characters with their crazy antics and comical expressions. Couple that with your talent and expertise, and its a win, win situation. To get such a fantastic action frame of one of these is a real treat - for you, and for us. Love it!

Carol.
