It was very difficult to get flight shots of this bird giving the narrow field of view with the 600mm + 1.4x. Impossible to catch focus as he was flying in and hard to anticipate when he would take flight. This is the best I could get and it is not as tack sharp as I would like.

Interesting flight shot, despite your frustrations. I like seeing the seed in his beak and the folded wings show the intended take-off. Nice!

Red-heads in flight don’t come easy, so you are to be commended on this one, Bob. It’s a great photograph.

Bob, if that isn't the coolest shot, it's like suspended animation of a caped crusader!  Fantastic air pose and the head turned sideways showing off the bit of food in beak is icing on the cake.  High marks for uniqueness.
