I find it interesting as it holds up the winter berry between the tongue and the upper mandible before swallowing it.

Karl, what great timing to capture the behavior, amazing to see the tongue and beak balancing the berry like that - really cool to see!  Fantastic colors, perch, BG and details - delightful photo.

Great composition, and the pose could not be better, Karl. The balancing act with the berry is the perfect finishing touch.

Nice image and explanation. It is interesting to see the details of how a bird feeds and high frame rate photography (with high enough shutter speed) reveals that.
