Great Crested Grebe and rather large chick, still hitching a ride.

Water taxi, indeed. The adult is riding rather low in the water, and I don't think it could support a chick much larger than this plump youngster. The deep green background sets off grebes beautifully. And I love the dash of color on the adult's head. Also, top-notch detail. Excellent image.

Terrific fun Carol- That chick, indeed, looks overgrown for hitching a ride! Love the two faces -so different- the parent quite elegant, and the chick, I think, rather comical. The deep green water is a perfect complement-beautifully done- love it!

Terrific image with great detail! Wonderful that the little one is looking your way! Plus, I think it came out great considering the midday light.

Great image, love the detail and those strange markings on the chick's face.

Carol, wow simply adorable!  Amusing for the chick to be so big, almost appears the parent is low on the water.  BG water color sets off these two travelers beautifully, especially the whites and the rust color on face.  Very cute markings and plump fluffiness on chick, a joy to view!

Nice image of this colorful Grebe with large chick - one of the last rides probably.

Wow, This is one of my favorite Grebe shots I ever seen. Carol, you captured it in perfection . The light on the mommy's head, little one hitchhiking, the green BG. It just doesn't get much better than this. Also you got it in midday. Amazing quality with now considered ancient 10D. These old cameras are so underrated IMHO My favorite camera is 13 years old Nikon D2Hs with only 4.1 MB and I rarely use my Nikon D4 16MB .
