Terrific action of the Kingfisher leaving the water with prey, Santiago. Beautiful color and love the water droplets frozen in midair. I might consider clearing up the eye if possible. Great image!

Thanks for your comment. I think that eye colour is caracteristic of this bird when it closes the eyes before diving.
Thanks again.

Yes, it’s a shame the protective membrane is visible in this shot. If your ethics allow, you could replace it with a clear eye and disclose the replacement. I remember how nicely the clear eye looked in your last post. Either way, it’s a great photograph.

Terrific action shot-agree with Ron about the eye, if it suits your taste. Wonderful water bubbles.

Wonderful image!

Birds, reptiles, and some mammals have nictitating membranes to protect their eyes when the animal is under water or in other harsh environments.  Despite being very much in favor of ascetics in nature photography, I feel that in this case the beauty of the biology instead be allowed to shine.  After all, the kingfisher just crashed into the water to catch his/her prey!  Anyone here ever keep their eyes open when diving into the water?
