I was looking at some of my old loon photos for a fall scene, and found this one-an old favorite. This loon is just starting to change into winter plumage, which will eventually look much like an immature bird. Taken from a kayak.
Sometimes I think the older Canons were top notch....and simpler to use!

Cindy, beautiful water and pose, plus a decent reflection. A lovely fall scene and image. Very nice.

Very nice shot of this loon. I agree with you that older cameras are so underrated. That is why I love my D2Hs even though I own D4.

So tranquil and peaceful, Cindy.  All we see is a tiny speck in the distance when we spot one over here, and even then it will be swimming away!  :)

Thanks, Carol, and everyone. I felt so fortunate to haave been able to "Commune with Loons" for a while when I used to kayak. Not any more, so I too see those beautiful distant "specks" now, usually. Loons are amazing-they will look right at you and sometimes dive under your boat or swim alongside.
