Our resident eastern screech owl peers out its roost hole on a fall day.  It flew out of the hole towards the brush next to the lake.  Naturally, I went to see where it may have landed but did not see it. When I turned back fully expecting an empty hole, the owl was back inside.  It's either the same hole or there were 2 owls in the same roost.

I walk around with much lighter gear when out exploring. Taken with the Canon 7D MK2, 70-200 f4 and 1.4x. Gitzo monopod.  Thanks for looking.

An excellent image – love the composition, the detail, and the autumn color.

Wilson, wonderful "peeking out pose," great to see the leg up set of talons.  Love the harmony between owl and trunk, what with those bark-like textures and patterns.  The Autumnal colors are very pretty!
