After seeing all of the fine images, including this one, you make on Michigan’s Eastern Upper Peninsula, I’m envious of all of your experiences there, Paul. Sounds like a bird photographer’s paradise.

Ron, The Eastern Upper Peninsula (EUP) is a paradise for photography of birds, and I have done many digital slide programs on this subject and written about it: https://paulrossibirds.wordpress.com/th ... otography/
The mitten of Michigan's lower peninsula funnels migrants toward the EUP in the spring, then they cross Lake Huron. For songbirds billions of midges await, as well as a current spruce budworm outbreak. Peninsulas along the north shore of Lake Huron in the EUP become loaded with warblers of 27 species, 17 which breed very close, another 7 further inland. During southbound migration in late summer and fall warblers pile up along the north shore of Lake Huron, hawks migrate just inland along the shoreline and ducks along the nearshore waters. They all feed and rest as the weather changes. There is an abundance of pristine varied habitats throughout the EUP. It can be excellent for winter owls. Whitefish Point in the Eastern Upper Peninsula is a National Wildlife Refuge and premier migration location in the spring, mostly known for hawks, but everything is found there.

I like the diagonal perch and the pose. A little more DOF might have gotten more of your subject in focus. However, this is sharp where it needs to be.

This is simply amazing, Paul. Does anyone do bird workshops in the area?
