Shot this morning. Bird startled the heck of me. I was looking for Short-Eared Owls and this bird took of from very close range buried inside the tall grass (Cattails). I didn't even know it was there.
I got some nice flight shots.
I only had split second to lock on it.

D2Hs, 200-500mm f/5.6
1/1000, ISO-450, f/5.6, VR-ON, handheld, medium crop.

This guy looks like a jet flying through the air. Great placement of the bird within the frame, and I love the morning light you captured so well, Ludo. Very nicely done!

Wow! That’s a shot I have never been able to get. They usually fly pretty low when I see them and the BG is not normally clean. They do hide well in the cattails and bullrushes with their head held straight up and the pattern camouflaging them perfectly. Very nice light and the downstroke shows off the pattern of the wing feathers.

Ludo, great reflexes grabbing the opportunity - beautiful downstroke captured showing off all the pretty colors and feather patterns in nice light!
