These birds have become hard to find in western Washington lately. However on a trip to the eastern side of the Cascades last spring I found several of them.

Please click image for uncompressed view, thanks.

Nice perch settings. What a beauty. I like the little fan or feathers or whatever it is called.

What a pose, and with such wonderful detail. The markings on the qual are fantastic. Super image, Bob!

Bob, what a beauty, getting a view of the art deco patterns on breast, along with a delightful view of the plume, very well done!

I love these birds and you have done this one justice!
Even though the angle is a bit steep it works very well.
I would burn the bright tree trunk to the left of the quail- it pulls the eye away slightly.
I like the vegetation framing the bird.

Pretty amazing bird. The feathering is incredible. Nice capture to get the little top knot.

Jessica Simpsons’ famous question finally makes sense!!! The scaling on the breast of the quail forms an exquisitely beautiful fishscale pattern. It is art in itself when cropped in tightly. A beautiful bird which I have never had the pleasure of seeing.

I thought about that but figured the quail would fly away if I did :D

Just joking Gail. Thanks for your comments.
