Sunbittern

Pantanal, Brazil.
I had hoped to get a shot of a Sunbittern with wings extended, but this was the only one I saw on the whole trip (for about 10 seconds).

A first for me, Jake, so thanks for sharing this one. Good pose with the raised foot, and very nice detail revealed in large view.

If you and Ron google this bird with wings outstretched, you will be amazed, as I was.
Thanks Jake, I just did - and what, an incredible sight!  The wings have eyes!   You see this a lot with large moths and butterflies but on a bird its stunning.  I can now see why you wanted to see one with wings outstretched.  :shock:
