This is Dad and one of his offspring.
When the chicks of the White-throated Kingfisher fledge they follow their parents for around 6 weeks......and I mean follow everywhere Mum or Dad goes they follow. The adults cannot have a quiet bit of wriggling protein without the pesky little guys interrupting.
On this occasion two of them were following Dad and he fed one a small bug and wanted a break......they just sat there demanding food.
Dad had had enough....he got close to this chick and gave him some hot verbals.

I like how nature has light color like safety paint on the tips of the chicks bill....comes close to parents eyes a lot.

Canon EOS1DX1 500mm lens plus 1.4x, ISO 1250, f8, i/3200, beanbag, vehicle.

Cheers

I love your shots series of these Kingfishers. Very nice narrative that goes with the image. You can almost feel the tension daddy screaming at little one :-)

I love your observations on their behaviour, Graeme. For me, its a vital part of wildlife photography to observe and learn the different lifestyles and habits of your subjects. A wonderful image too!
