Great horned owl from west central Illinois. This owl was perched at the very top of a tree. Luckily this tree happened to be at the bottom of a very steep and narrow strip mine pond. A ghillie suit combined with very slow patient crawling got me to within 30 feet and eye level. This image is not cropped
