Photo taken at Laguna Seca Ranch in South Texas March 8, 2018.

Nikon D850, 300mm lens, 1.4 TC, 1/640 sec at f/8.0, ISO 640.

Looking through some photos from earlier this year and found this one.

This Caracara is still technically a juvenile, but it is very close to getting his "adult" feathers.  Caracaras lose one feather at a time, so it takes a while.

Amazing shot Gene! Lovely settings and colors. Looks like the D850 / 300mm f/4 combo is working very well. I love the images D850 produces.

Ludo,  I agree about the 850's image quality.  What I like about it the best is the autofocus system.  If you miss the shot, it's probably not the fault of the camera.  I use the 300mm f/2.8, not the f/4.  What I found is that the 850's sensor is so good that it can get the very best a lens can offer.  Thanks for your comment.
