Nome, Alaska
There were 3 eagle chicks - now, when I dragged back to Alaska a month later to get them bigger, I found only one left - and, since it had been getting ALL the food - it was huge.
Disappointing, but still a good, brief second trip.

I'm really envious of the opportunity you had to get this image. Looks like you were shooting from a fairly high location to get this straight-on shot.

Well worth the effort, Sandy. Great pose with the open mouth and a beautiful view of the nesting area.

Nice to see Golden Eagle chick. Nice capture of not an easy eagle to find Sandy!

Truthfully, this nest is a "local secret" and is 15 feet off the ground in a rocky cliff, and 30 feet from the accessible road.
There have been eagle chicks raised yearly in this nest for a long time, and mom is quite unfazed by the rare car that treks 50+ miles on a dirt road out to the nest. .
Truly a gift!
More images to come, of course.
