Last week I got insanely lucky while shooting in northern Alaska and was able to photograph noy only Ross's Gull but also Yellow-billed Loon. So lucky!!!! Glenn

Makes me sick, but not as sick as when I get to see the Yellow-billed Loon. Dreading it!!!

Killer low angle image with that perfect head turn. A bit close to the frame for me on the left.

I think I found this bird with my friend last Monday and reported it...? Crazy how many people were out there looking at it all week (maybe I saw you?). Word spread quickly...lol. I'm still processing my thousands of shots. By the end of the week there was a 3rd bird that showed up and they were copulating and nesting.

Nice low angle and light on this shot. As Alan said I'd probably put a little more room on the left. Great shot!

Very nice.
I also photographed the first 2 that showed up (I think I saw them first when one flew by me at close range) and got a short video of them preening. My images (not processed yet) show much more pink coloration on the breast and even a bit up to the head. One of the birds was an adult and the other appeared to be a second year with a lot of dark feathers in the wing shields. While we were on the road the last day of our visit (6/22/18) we saw 3 of them chasing each other for an extended period of time so I suspect a second male showed up. Pretty exciting stuff!
I was with Pope Shawn Paul (now Helene, I guess) and Tom Reichner.
