Jim, the Nikon 200-500mm f/5.6 VR (IS) in Canon world is really good. 4 1/2 stop shake reduction. It is so good that I don't hardly ever use tripod with this lens. I have many shots at 1/15 sec @500mm razor sharp handheld.
