This elusive "Yellow-billed Loon" was photographed on a tundra pond along the Dalton Highway. We were fortunate enough to find this very co-operative bird very close to the road. Unfortunately the weather didn't co-operate. It was a frigid cold, windy and snowy afternoon. I cleaned-up a couple of snowflakes from the eye area. Other than that, I actually like the snow as it adds to the mystic of this bird. This is an almost full frame shot taken using Canon 1DX + 600mm + 1.4x.
This was photographed on the Dalton Highway tour with Matthew Studebaker.

I agree, the snow sets a nice mood for this elusive loon image. I feel you did well under the harsh conditions.
