Photo taken at Laguna Seca Ranch in South Texas May 21, 2018.

Nikon D850, 300mm lens, 1.4 TC, 1/1000 sec at f/8.0, ISO 320.

The perch is from a Mexican Olive tree (in Spanish called Anacahuita) that are native in the United States only the counties of deep South Texas due to their intolerance to cold weather.  They grow 15 to 20 feet tall and the canopy is also 15 to 20 feet wide and they will live over 100 years.  Mexican Olives will bloom constantly if they get sufficient rain.  The tree attracts hummingbirds and butterflies.  The fruit is not edible by humans, but wildlife will eat them.  After time, the fruit will eventually ferment on the tree and white-tailed deer will seek them out to eat and if they eat enough will become drunk because of the alcohol content.  It's kind of funny to see drunk deer.

A nicely posed woodpecker on a super clean background, Gene. Very interesting information — particularly on the intoxicated deer.

Any drunk deer will be welcome in Wildlife, Gene!

Lovely to see a different WP image and beautifully posed under this branch. Nice, subtle colour variation in the bg too.

I love the BG in this photo and the bird is nice under the branch.
