Photo taken at Laguna Seca Ranch in South Texas April 30, 2018.
Nikon D850, 300mm lens, 1.4 TC, 1/320 sec at f/6.3, ISO 640, fill flash. The bean the Tanager is on is from a Texas Native Ebony tree. In the past, the Texas Ebony tree was one of the most common trees in South Texas. It's also one of the best trees in South Texas. Essentially everything on the tree is edible by wildlife. The wood of the Texas Ebony is very dense and heavy. This caused the demise of the tree when most were cut down to make cannon balls. Detail is better if you click on the image. |
