On my wish list for a number of years now and finally, wish comes true. I always held out hope and never gave up. Two local Ottawa photographers and I were privileged to see one recently.
The northern saw-whet owl is a resident species in Ottawa and surrounding area including Gatineau Park. They nest here but are extremely difficult to find once the winter has concluded. They nest throughout eastern Ontario and Quebec. One birder recounted seeing a pair mating in front of him and his young birder son in Gatineau Park a few years ago. Taken with Canon 7D MK2, 500 f4 + 1.4x. Remote release, Live View and Gitzo tripod. Thanks for looking. |
