At the Northern limit of its range, this bird was collecting nesting material at Point Pelee.
It came so close many times that the 3.5 m minimum focusing of the 500 was too long.
On the other hand my wife had amazing close ups with her 100-400 II. lens and forget about tripod at that location it is a hindrance.
Next year I'll definitely take both lenses.
Thanks for looking.

Wow - "too close" sounds like a great opportunity! Nice portrait, Karl. Lots of detail. Would like to see the difference with 100-400mm :)

Karl, Great details.  Maybe a bit too centered?

Nice image, Karl. Very sharp and good pose.
Yes they are extending their territories north. I saw them nesting in Milton for the second year.

Beautiful close up with such sweet detail, Karl! I can almost 'feel' those soft feathers.
