Shot in Feb-2017. It was a nice snowy day. We don't get much snow here, so when the fields are covered with snow , it is like a special treat for me.
In this image I want to show the mood. I did not crop the image at all, this is full frame shot. It took me good 20 minutes to be able to slowly get closer inch by inch to this owl. It is hard to sneak up on owl and especially hard in snow since they can hear me and see me from far away.
You can see from the shot that owl was looking at me. I was shooting with 300mm f/2.8 so this is closest I could get without scaring owl away. I took few shots and quietly turned around and walked away.

You definitely had the owl's attention judging from the stare in its eyes. Very good stealth approach so as not to scare it away. The snowy habitat certainly communicates the mood you were after, Ludo. Very nice full frame image.

I love this frame . The owl is perfect blend in this wild frame. The best to view on high resolution to see the powerful frame.
