Wattled crane with catch

Listed as critically endangered in Southern Africa due mainly to wetland degradation and agricultural activities, wattled cranes are still to be found in reasonable numbers in the Okavango Delta in Botswana where this juvenile was photographed.

I like how the light illuminates the cranes eye. Great timing on the toss to catch it in midair within the open bill. Very nice work, Monique.
