It is a fine looking kookaburra but the tail being cut lets the image down.

Thanks Kim. I think I have another with the tail  'intact' but it has a really cheeky look in this image. We'll see.

Very nice head turn and sweet eye contact, Tom. The tip of the tail would be nice.

Wonderful bird I hope to catch in a couple months when we are there.
Nice head-turn, detail, bright eye, and colours.
I'd personally be tempted to remove all BG and leave only the bird and diagonal perch.
If you have another similar image the same size, it would be pretty easy to add some canvas and clone in the rest of the cut-off tail.

As per your suggestions, Sandy. Lots of places here to do bird photography. If you see a funny looking guy with a camo floppy hat, give me a wave.
