Shot Nov-2017. It was a dark overcast day. Owl was sitting under tree branches, so there was hardly any light. I had to crank ISO-4000 and shutter speed 1/60 shooting at 600mm.
This if full frame shot with no crop. No noise reduction used in post process. I am really happy how well old 1D Mark IV handle high ISO.

1D4, SIGMA 150-600mm (SPORT)
1/60, ISO-4000, f/7.1 on tripod @600mm.

I like the over the back pose you captured with the owl in its natural surroundings. Glad to see you getting such good results with my former camera body. I don't recall ever pushing it to ISO 4000.

Ludo, great pose with the owl looking back over its backside. Good thinking on the scene to capture this in the low light conditions (1/60 sec, ISO 4000). Very nice!

Thanks Karl, I have few images very similar quality with ISO-5000. I don't usually push ISO that high. But when  I need it , I am not afraid to crank ISO that high. Honestly, I am surprised that 1D Mark IV can handle it without a problem. That is one reason I like 1D Mark IV...overall great performer and 1.3 X crop factor. I wish Canon would still produce APS-H size sensors.
