Photo taken at Laguna Seca Ranch in South Texas March 7, 2018.

Nikon D850, Nikon 300mm f/2.8 lens, Nikon 1.4 TC, 1/1000 sec at f/8.0, ISO 250.

You can tell this is a male because of the red feathers on the top of his head.

The pose mimicking the line of the perch makes the shot for me, Gene. Image quality is top-notch, and the soft colors in the background showcase the Woodpecker beautifully.

Great portrait of this fine looking woodpecker, Gene. Nice light, too.

Great detail and exposure but just a little tight in the frame for me. Also, where is his other leg?

Bob, Didn't notice one leg is not visible.  Either pulled up to his body, or this is a one-legged pecker?

Wonderful pose - and shot Gene! Beautiful image in all respects, and it looks like the other foot is tucked up in the feathers?
