Ferruginous Hawk

Caught this beautiful juvenile male a few years ago in a Nice banking pose as he headed back to his perch after missing a gopher. 
These raptors specialize in eating gophers whole. You can see the elongated beak which enables them to swallow their prey whole. 
They are also North America's largest Buteo (hawk).

WOW! That look back is perfect! Fanned tail and primaries are stunning. As good as it gets!
