Shot yesterday late afternoon. I have not seen this owl since last December. I found it again while I was crawling thru the woods.
I was almost shocked when I spotted the owl. It was so close..around 4meters (little over 13 feet). I had no option to back off to get more distance, since there was bushes and small trees. I couldn't go sideways too many branches. This was only clear shot option. I was shooting with 500mm lens and I didn't bring my 300mm as I usually do. But even 300mm would be still close.
Owl didn't care at all about my presence. It was preening  it's feathers and looking around. I took few shots and went home.

Extreme detail on the face Ludo, especially when clicked on. Glad you found this bird again. I haven't looked for it lately assuming it had left the area.

A great close-up portrait, Ludo. It is sharp where it needs to be, and it is beautifully exposed. I really like the almost high key background. Excellent.
