Dirty Face

I waited for this snowy for 2 hours to fly off a utility pole and it flew toward me grabbing a clump of grass without prey.  I did not trigger this flight-natural behavior! I assume the dirty face from hunting on a snowless landscape.

Jeff, I do not see a dirty face// nicely done and sharp.. Good to know you still ahve this species up your way..
I am thinking of coming up very soon to try for those adirondack crossbills. Do you know if they can be cooperative?

I found them not cooperative at all. Spent an entire day with them and got nothing but spruce treetop looks.
