Here is another shot of the same bird I posted previously. I had to go around to get a better BG behind the bird, but I lost some distance (there is always trade off :-)). I was not sure if the hawk would stick around while I was making the move, but it did. It was just basking in the sun.

1D4, SIGMA 500mm f/4.5 DG OS HSM
1/160, ISO-100, f/7.1 on tripod.

Nice perch with a little sprinkle of snow and some lichen on it. Background and bird both look very nice, Ludo.

Great decision to relocate for a better shot – this is a much better image, Ludo. Love the composition with the hawk looking across and thorough the majority of the frame. Again, the snow is the perfect finishing touch. Well done!

Nice light on the bird , and just the right amount of foliage to frame the bird. Normally I don't like spots and blotches of sky in the background but here the deeper color of the blue actually helps to make this image pop a bit.
