Shot in April 2017...early evening. These owls are very hard to get in flight. Reason for it because they like to hunt in dark hours, but there is a small window of opportunity in Spring, Summer, and Fall when days are longer, that means nights are shorter so you can catch the owls in the morning when there is still  some light or evening before gets dark. Here is example shot.
Shot near the parking lot. Me and Bob aka "RLK" known here in NatureScapes were waiting for this owl to come out. I didn't have a long lens and Bob very kindly let me use his Canon 500mm f/4 I. I used that lens with 1D Mark III.

Owl made few passes and was gone as usual. So even if you see the Barn Owl flying, it doesn't give you many good shot opportunities.
As quickly as the owl appeared in the field, it was gonna just as fast.

Barn Owls are my favorite owls. 2 weeks ago I found a dead young Barn Owl near the bridge , not too far from this field. It appeared to be killed by car. That is most common threat to these owls, beside disappearing habitat.

1DIII, Canon 500mm f/4 I
1/500, ISO1600, f/4, handheld.

Very fine shot of this difficult to photograph specimen, Ludo. Good flight angle and sweet flight pose with wings on the down stroke. Enjoyed the narrative behind the shot.
