Super action and behavioral image, Gene. Very nice perch, and attractive wing spreads on the birds. Wish for a little more eye contact, but overall a very good photograph.

Ron, I completely agree that more eye contact would be better.  For me, there's a difference between a bird not looking at the camera, and a bird that is not looking at the camera because of a behavior where the bird would probably not be looking towards a camera.  Curious what others might think?

. . . . . For me, there's a difference between a bird not looking at the camera, and a bird that is not looking at the camera because of a behavior where the bird would probably not be looking towards a camera. . . .
I agree with your statement, Gene. This is an action and behavioral shot, where full eye contact is not always possible. But I was not suggesting full eye contact – simply wishing for "a little more." Just being able to see one eye clearly on each bird would have been nice. Locating the eye facing us on each bird, and perhaps brightening it a touch, even giving it the slight appearance of a catchlight, was what I had in mind. It was not my intent to start a debate over whether we should be able to see the eyes in an action or behavioral shot. My views are based solely on my personal tastes. And the beauty of each of us possessing our own personal views is what makes photography such a wonderful and subjective art form. If we all had the same views, photography would no longer be interesting. So please do not misinterpret my views as direct criticism against you. :)

Very nice shot Gene! Nice to see bird interacting. I agree with Ron, eye connection would make it perfect. But we all know that is not always possible.
Good job.

My thoughts are pretty much the same as Ron on this one, Gene - although I would be happy with just seeing an eye on one of them.
