Beautiful bird, in a classic woodpecker pose, looking at you. Perfect creamy background.

All has been said, Ron-just a superb photo. We had a brief Redhead visitor pass through here in Vermont in May 2014. Got a reasonable photo from a brief glimpse. (They do not nest here). Caused quite a sensation. Sad to hear of their decline. I feel fortunate to have seen it and now you have given us an inspiring view!

When I was a boy living in central Pennsylvania in the 40's and 50's, Red Headed Woodpeckers, Flickers, and Pileated Woodpeckers were common sights. As well, we often saw Cedar Waxwings, Scarlet Tanagers, Indigo Buntings and many more. I haven't been there in 18 years but when I left in 1999 a sighting of any of the above mentioned was a rarity.

Beautiful shot - tack-sharp, great pose, bright eye, nice perch.
The yellow-green BG seems just a bit bright from here; you don't want to detract from this gorgeous bird.
Well-done!
Sandy
