They are migratory birds but  there are always a few staying around and hoping to survive the harsh winter.
Thanks for looking.

Nice diagonal perch, complimentary background, and good-looking specimen, Karl. A beautiful and very nicely detailed image of this lovely little Sparrow.

Great image Karl. One of the prettiest sparrows IMO.

Beautiful image Karl! Details are amazing. What I really like about this image is the BG blends perfect with the bird. Very nice.

Karl, it may be one of the commonest birds in the East but this is a fine photo for all the reasons others have already mentioned.  Two additional comments/questions:

- If there's any more room above and (especially) below, this would make a great vertical, and you could also avoid the perch exiting the frame exactly at the upper-left corner (a personal taste thing I'm sure).

- If I click on the photo to see it at the resolution at which you presumably applied sharpening, it appears to my eye on my monitor very slightly oversharpened, although much like beauty, this is in the eyes of the beholder.  I'm wondering if you can tell me/us what were your sharpening steps if you remember them?

Thanks, Mike. You might be right about over sharpening but I don't remember how much I used.
I use a basic sharpening in DPP and some in Photoshop that varies.
