My first avian post in a long time . . .

There are a number of wintering bald eagles in my area, either seeking fish in areas of open water or on a few occasions, eating a carcass of a deer that fell through the ice or placed by a town highway department.  While many nature photographers here pursue eagle flight shots and opportunities exist here, there are also roadside car as blind opportunities of a few eagles on ice at a decent distance that allow for nice plumage detail.  This was taken with my Canon 100-400 ii and 1.4x iii from a bean bag in car and then cropped a bit . . .  7D Mk2.

Good detail and nice pose with the raised foot. The ice makes an excellent background. Very nice image, and welcome back!.

Glad to see your post. I haven't posted much for several years. I love the intensity of him.....making his move with the raised talon.

Cracking detail Jeff of this well exposed Eagle, love the raised foot. That Canon lens works well even the the TC and you cannot beat shooting from a vehicle with a bean bag.

Jeff, Nice image! Really like the intense stare--would hate to be on the receiving end of what is about to happen.
