Great Gray Owl

Sax-Zim, MN

D1X, 600, ISO 200, f8, 1/100

Here's one from the winter of 04/05. This was with the 5PM D1X. I could not go higher than ISO 200 unless I liked a lot of noise. The battery would last 20 minutes in the sub-zero temps.
Tomorrow I leave for the same location with the latest technology and I cannot wait.

It will be tough to exceed this photo Alan, but I wish you well on the return visit. Not too often you get to photograph these guys as eye level like this, especially with that mossy perch!

Wonderful shot Alan....I always wonder why you guys suffer for GGO's...they are year around residents in Central Oregon.
