Went out looking for a rare western Kansas Snowy Owl. I came up empty, so resorted to some of the regulars. I found a very large flock of around a couple thousand Lapland Longspurs close to one of the county roads and went to work. Even with hundreds of close subjects that love to fly around the fields at low heights, it's still a very very difficult endeavor to get a sharp frame with a nice wing/bank position. Cleaned up the background with some Guassian Blur. Please left-click for larger version. Thanks for looking!

Great flight shot, of this species. We are happy when we find one or two among hundreds of Snow Buntings.

I commend you for getting this image Mike. Dare I ask how many exposures you took to end up with this one?

Oh probably 500 or so dedicated to capturing in flights. There's about 6 or 7 other decent frames, but nothing like this bank shot.

Cool that you caught this guy in flight Mike! Nice color and details in this one. Maybe increase the exposure a little as it is a bit dark on my monitor. Well done
