Photo taken at Laguna Seca Ranch in South Texas December 10, 2018.

Nikon D810, 300mm lens, 1.4 TC, 1/1250 sec at f/9.0, ISO 450.

Flaring the tail is somewhat unusual.  Mating season is beginning, and maybe the tail flaring has something to do with that?

You have to click on this one to see the wonderful detail - and the expression of the one on the right!  

Fanning the tail says 'look how beautiful and fit I am!!'  ..........the look in the eye of the observer says,  ''Sheesh!  what a show off!!'....

The fan tail is so unique it makes the image special, Gene! You have a great series of Caracara images, and this one is up close to the top.
