We sat by a waterhole in Lower Zambezi NP. Zambia, watching for wildlife coming to drink, early morning on a very hot day... we were alerted by a shrill whistle, and a few of these beauties flew in.  :D

They didn't mind us at all, and this one came quite close after having a bath.

I love them, they always make me smile!

Beautiful portrait of an exotic Duck, Carol. Love the details, head angle, eye contact and the open beak.

The exposure is spot on showing lovely detail in the contrasting feathers, a nice touch with the open bill Carol.

A super portrait with impeccable detail, Carol. I love how the background compliments the color in the duck. Excellent.

Total charmer, Carol- the open beak does it for me-don't know if they "quack" but that's what I "hear" ;). (Or is this a whistle....) Colors are so lovely as are the details.

Hi Carol. This duck looks like he is happy, almost smiling. It's special when you are able to capture that sort of positive expression in a wildlife image! Grade A portrait.

Thank you, Cindy.  I have never heard them 'Quack' - but they make a lovely whistling sound to each other and that is what this little one is doing!  :D

How smart you are to go on such an enjoyable trip and get great experiences and photos. You have a great exposure going there with details in the whites and a nice smiling duck pose. Wonderful!
