This is my closest encounter with a short-eared owl.  It was a treat and a privilege.  A nemesis bird for me no more :)

If you look at my post in the owls of winter thread in the Photography Topics forum, I mentioned in early November that there was indication that short-eared owls may be on the move.  Well, I can confirm that two months later.

This may be one of the best winters to see short-eared owls as they are showing up in various places including Amherst Island, Wolfe Island and other spots.  Did you know that Amherst Island had 21 of these owls flying around all day long several weeks ago?

Canon 7D MK2, 500 f4 II, handheld. Thanks for looking.

I'm happy for you that you moved this beautiful Owl species out of your nemesis compartment, Wilson. What a wonderful image you got here, Wilson!

The lovely two-tone background sets off this handsome owl perfectly. A beautiful pose with killer eyes! Congrats.

Unbelievably good. WOW! I'd clone out that little distraction in the lower left of the frame, print, mat, and frame this guy. !
