Common Mergenser (Male) -
PLEASE view in dark background (click on the image).
The subject came straight to me and gave me some wonderful moments. Tried a high key shot concentrating on the head plumage.
(Nikon D500, 500 f4 VR2 & 1.4TCIII) Shutter - 1/20, F – 7.1, ISO – 640; Metering – Spot, EB - +0.7 (again +0.3 in Photoshop)
I APPRECIATE CRITICISMS. THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR VIEWING & INPUTS.

The high key presentation really works well with the head and bill, however, some of the detail was lost in the white plumage of the duck. :)

Thanks a ton for your input.

I targeted only the head plumage and somewhat tried to create an abstract presentation of the body without the white details. Just an experiment.

Thanks again.

Somdeb.

It's great to experiment and I like the effect a lot. The green collar of the head contrasted with the red/orange of the bill is wonderful. Those water droplets are beautiful as well. Nicely done.

Nice close up,,Somdeb! Lucky that you got a sharp picture at that low shutter speed.I think ISO could have been pushed a bit more as per the noise performance of the camera you used.Nice details on the green.Like to see some details on the white.

I agree with the others. Great image with wonderful head details. Some selective toning down of the duck's body would make this image even better.

I think your experiment worked well Somdeb! I really like the almost abstract presentation concentrating on just the darker colours and the red bill. Refreshingly different, well done!
