Photographed on the East Pond of Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge in Queens, NY. Weather was predicted to be dark and overcast so I went to the pond to just go birding but decided to bring the camera just in case. Early in the morning I lucked out with really close birds and perfect light as the sun broke through for about a minute while the birds fed in a dark cove. This was about as close as I have ever been to a juvenile Stilt Sandpiper. Was almost happy that I didn't have the big lens with me that day.

Great background for this image and nice detail on the bird as well.
Never go birding without a camera!
