Photo taken at Laguna Seca Ranch in South Texas November 15, 2017.

Nikon D810, 300mm lens, 1.4 TC, 1/800 sec at f/8.0, ISO 450.

You can tell this is a female, because the male Golden-fronted Woodpecker has a red spot on his head.

Wonderful image. As mentioned the head turn and tongue is outstanding. At first from the thumbnail I thought is was a red bellied WP. I have never seen this species. Thanks for sharing.
